Key provisions include the establishment of a uniform legal framework for electronic communication, the use of videoconferencing technologies in legal proceedings, and the introduction of electronic signatures and payments. However, challenges such as fragmentation within the EU’s legal framework and varying digital development levels across Member States remain, underscoring the need for continued collaboration and adaptation.

As the Digitalisation Regulation is slated for full implementation by 1 May 2025, the EU anticipates improved efficiency and accessibility in cross-border legal cooperation.
